Resident Doctors Announce 16th Four-Day Strike in Ongoing NHS Pay Dispute

Resident doctors across the National Health Service (NHS) in England are set to embark on another round of industrial action as their long-running dispute over pay continues to intensify.

The strike is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, 15 June 2026, and end at 6:59 a.m. on Friday, 19 June 2026, lasting a total of four days. This latest action will mark the 16th strike in the ongoing dispute between doctors and the government.

The industrial action will take the form of a walkout, during which resident doctors are expected to withdraw routine labour while emergency care coverage is maintained. The disruption is expected to affect scheduled consultations, procedures, and other non-urgent medical services across hospitals in England.

The dispute centres on pay and working conditions, with the doctors’ union arguing that salaries have significantly declined in real terms over time and calling for substantial pay restoration. However, government officials have maintained that the demands are financially difficult to meet, leading to repeated breakdowns in negotiations and successive waves of strike action.

The upcoming walkout adds to a series of industrial actions that have already placed pressure on NHS services, as both sides remain at an impasse with no final agreement yet reached.
