Deyci Alejandra Omaña Ortiz, a former adult film actress popularly known by her stage name Amaranta Hank, has been sworn in as a senator in Colombia following her victory in the country’s March parliamentary elections.
Ortiz secured the Senate seat on the platform of advocating stronger legal protections and improved rights for workers in the adult entertainment industry. She will represent the Norte de Santander region as a member of the left-wing Historic Pact coalition during the 2026–2030 legislative term.
Before entering politics, Ortiz worked as a journalist before transitioning into the adult film industry. She has maintained that her past career should not define or hinder her public service, arguing that people in the adult entertainment sector deserve legal recognition and protection against exploitation.
Her inauguration has drawn widespread attention both within Colombia and internationally, with supporters describing it as a reflection of the country’s evolving political landscape, while critics have questioned her suitability for public office.
