The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced plans to deport Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, a Nigerian national currently in its custody, following multiple convictions for violent and drug-related offences in the United States.
In a statement released on Monday, ICE described Ijaoba as a “criminal illegal alien” and a former member of the Bloods, a notorious street gang associated with armed criminal activity across several U.S. states.
According to the agency, Ijaoba entered the United States illegally and accumulated a long record of convictions, including aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, assault and aggravated assault, armed robbery, obstruction of justice, drug sales, and escape from police custody.
ICE confirmed that Ijaoba has a final removal order and remains detained pending deportation. The agency did not disclose a specific date for his return to Nigeria.
The announcement comes amid broader U.S. immigration enforcement efforts targeting individuals with serious criminal histories and seeking to uphold public safety, though such measures have drawn criticism over alleged rights abuses in recent years.
