Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has explained his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his former party as no longer capable of serving as a viable political platform.
Speaking on his defection, Mutfwang said the PDP had become ineffective and weakened by internal crises, claiming it had “fallen into the hands of undertakers.” According to him, remaining in the party would have hindered his ability to deliver effective governance to the people of Plateau State.
The governor likened his decision to abandoning a faulty vehicle during a critical journey, noting that clinging to a non-functional platform would have jeopardized his political objectives and responsibilities.
Mutfwang’s move comes despite earlier public assurances that he would remain with the opposition party. His defection has since generated mixed reactions within political circles, with analysts describing it as another significant blow to the PDP’s influence ahead of future elections.
