Former presidential aide and Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has stated that it is unrealistic to expect the Federal Government to provide security for every school across the country following the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Ogbomoso.
Reacting to the incident, Omokri argued that Nigeria has about 300,000 schools but fewer than 300,000 soldiers, making it impracticable for federal security agencies alone to protect all educational institutions nationwide. He stressed that state governments must play a greater role in securing schools and supporting the push for state policing.
He further maintained that terrorism thrives on division and public discord, urging Nigerians to focus on practical solutions rather than directing blame at the Federal Government whenever security breaches occur.
Omokri also called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, noting that community intelligence remains vital in preventing attacks and improving public safety.
