Armed terrorists operating in parts of Kwara State have reportedly threatened to forcefully marry off the abducted wives of the Emir of Yashikira after a ₦150 million ransom demand was not met on time.
According to reports, the attackers issued the threat while negotiations over the release of the victims continued to stall. The incident follows an earlier assault on Yashikira community in Baruten Local Government Area, where the Emir’s palace was invaded and several residents, including women and children, were abducted.
Local sources say the attackers are pressuring the community and families involved to meet their ransom demand, warning of further harm to the captives if their conditions are not fulfilled.
Security agencies have since launched efforts to rescue the victims and track down the armed group responsible for the attack, while residents remain in fear as search-and-rescue operations continue.
Authorities have urged calm, assuring that coordinated operations are ongoing to secure the safe return of all abducted persons.
