Bagega, Zamfara State – The deteriorating condition of a classroom at Day Secondary School, Bagega, has triggered fresh concerns over the state of public education infrastructure in Zamfara State.
Students are currently learning in a partially collapsed structure with only two standing walls and no desks or chairs, forcing them to sit directly on the bare, dusty ground. The classroom, described by locals as “one of the worst in the country,” exposes learners to harsh weather conditions and frequent disruptions.
Teachers say the situation has persisted for years despite repeated appeals to authorities for repairs. Community members fear the environment poses safety risks and threatens the academic performance of students who must cope with distraction, discomfort and overcrowding.
Parents and local leaders are calling for urgent intervention from the Zamfara State Government, the Universal Basic Education Commission, and humanitarian partners to restore the school’s infrastructure and ensure students have a safe and conducive learning environment.
