Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar has criticised the handling of insecurity under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that Nigerians are increasingly exposed to violence across the country.
Atiku expressed concern over the continued cases of kidnappings, killings, banditry and other security threats, arguing that the situation has deteriorated despite repeated assurances from the Federal Government.
According to him, communities in the North, South and Middle Belt have continued to suffer attacks, with citizens bearing the consequences of persistent insecurity. He stressed that safeguarding lives and property remains one of the government’s primary responsibilities and called for more effective measures to address the crisis.
The former vice president also urged Nigerians to demand greater accountability, improved planning and stronger coordination from security agencies in tackling the country’s security challenges.
His remarks come amid ongoing national discussions on how to respond to school abductions, bandit attacks and other violent incidents reported in various parts of Nigeria.
Atiku further advocated for enhanced community-based protection initiatives, improved intelligence sharing and comprehensive security reforms as part of efforts to curb the growing wave of insecurity nationwide.
