Zamfara Governor Says Fight Against Insecurity Is a Collective Responsibility

Zamfara State Governor has stated that the fight against insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in Zamfara, should not be seen as the duty of the government alone but as a shared responsibility of every citizen.

Speaking during an interaction with journalists, the governor stressed that effective and lasting peace can only be achieved when all stakeholders including community leaders, religious clerics, traditional institutions, and the general public work hand in hand with the government and security agencies.

He explained that insecurity in Zamfara has deeply affected social and economic activities, leading to displacement, loss of lives, and destruction of property. The governor called on residents to actively support security operations by sharing credible information that could help track down criminal elements and prevent future attacks.

The governor also reassured citizens that his administration remains committed to restoring normalcy through continuous dialogue, intelligence sharing, and collaboration with both local vigilantes and federal security forces. He maintained that the measures being taken are yielding results but require public participation to be sustained.

Zamfara is among the states in northwestern Nigeria facing persistent challenges from armed bandit groups, who engage in kidnappings for ransom, cattle rustling, and attacks on rural communities. The governor’s renewed appeal highlights the importance of unity and vigilance in combating the security crisis that has plagued the region for years.
