The publisher of the Daily Mirror, Daily Express, and other leading UK tabloids, Reach plc, has announced a major round of job cuts as part of a restructuring plan.
According to the company, a total of 321 roles will be eliminated, while 135 new positions will be created, resulting in a net reduction of 186 jobs. The move comes as the publisher seeks to adapt to shifts in readership habits and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in news production.Reach, one of the UK’s largest newspaper publishers, said the reorganization is aimed at “reshaping the business for the future” amid falling print circulation and changing digital consumption patterns.
The company has faced similar restructuring efforts in recent years, with several rounds of redundancies announced as it balances costs with investment in digital transformation.Staff consultation on the planned cuts is expected to begin immediately.
