Tinubu Replaces Wike-Backed BCDA DG, Appoints Abdulrazak Namdas

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former House of Representatives member Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas as the new Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), replacing Dakorinama Alabo George in a fresh leadership reshuffle.

The appointment was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the Presidency, the appointment takes immediate effect.

Namdas, a former lawmaker who represented Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency in Adamawa State, previously served as the spokesperson of the 8th House of Representatives and is expected to lead the agency responsible for coordinating development projects in Nigeria’s border communities.

He replaces Dakorinama Alabo George, who has been widely identified as an ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. George reportedly stepped down from the position to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections, prompting President Tinubu to appoint a successor.

The Presidency also announced other appointments, including the naming of Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director of Strategy and Commercial at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), while Chukwuma Umeoji was reappointed as Executive Director of Corporate Services.
