Seven students of Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda have been abducted by suspected bandits following an attack on their off-campus residence in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to reports, the gunmen stormed the students’ residence located on the outskirts of the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda town in the early hours of the day and forcefully whisked away seven students. The attackers reportedly operated for several minutes before fleeing with the victims to an unknown destination.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns over the safety of students residing outside the institution, particularly in communities that have experienced recurring attacks by armed groups. Kaura Namoda and several surrounding communities have witnessed a series of kidnappings and violent attacks in recent months, with residents repeatedly calling for stronger security measures.
Security agencies have reportedly launched efforts to track down the abductors and secure the safe release of the students, while local residents continue to express fears over the worsening security situation in the area. Authorities are yet to officially announce whether any contact has been established with the kidnappers.
The latest abduction adds to a growing list of kidnapping incidents in Zamfara State, where bandit attacks have continued to pose significant security challenges despite ongoing operations by security forces.
