Meta Reportedly Lays Off 8,000 Workers Through Early Morning Emails

Tech giant Meta has reportedly begun a major round of layoffs affecting about 8,000 employees across several countries.

According to multiple international reports, workers in Singapore were among the first to receive termination notices around 4 AM local time on Wednesday. Shortly after the emails were sent, affected employees allegedly lost access to their work laptops, company email accounts, and internal systems.

Reports indicate that the layoffs are part of Meta’s ongoing restructuring and cost-cutting efforts, with the company increasing its focus on artificial intelligence projects and operational efficiency.

Some employees were reportedly instructed to work from home before the notices were issued, as the company carried out the layoffs across different regions.

In addition to the reported job cuts, thousands of workers are also said to be undergoing reassignment into new AI-focused departments within the company.

While the reports have been widely circulated by international media outlets, Meta has yet to release a detailed official statement confirming the exact number of employees affected.
