The Caribbean nation of Grenada has announced plans to grant visa-free entry to holders of Nigerian passports as part of efforts to strengthen economic, tourism, and diplomatic relations between both countries. The arrangement is expected to take effect soon and is aimed at making travel easier for business people, tourists, students, and investors.
Speaking on the development, Grenada’s Honorary Consul in Nigeria, Bidemi Sonoiki, said the initiative is designed to encourage greater commercial cooperation and open new opportunities for Nigerians seeking to expand into international markets. According to him, Grenada offers investment prospects in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, healthcare, education, fintech, logistics, renewable energy, and real estate.
He further disclosed that discussions are ongoing to establish direct air connectivity between Nigeria and Grenada within the next six months. The proposed flight route is expected to improve movement between both countries and boost trade, tourism, and investment activities.
The envoy noted that relations between Nigeria and Grenada have continued to grow since the opening of Grenada’s honorary consulate in Lagos in 2022 and the establishment of the Nigeria-Grenada Chamber of Commerce, which has helped strengthen business partnerships between both nations.
Officials expressed confidence that the visa-free policy and planned direct flights will create new opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, students, and tourists from both countries while deepening economic cooperation between Africa’s largest economy and the Caribbean state.
