At least seven people were killed on Sunday night after armed attackers stormed Gwom-Ajang village in Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
According to local sources, the assailants opened fire on a gathering of women in the community, located about 15 miles southwest of Jos, the state capital.
Several other residents sustained injuries during the attack. Witnesses said the attackers reportedly shouted religious slogans and communicated in the Fulani language as they carried out the assault.
Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of reporting, while residents continue to mourn the victims and call for increased security in the area.
