A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the arraignment of Omoyele Sowore, X Corporation, and Meta to October 27, 2025. The adjournment followed submissions by defense lawyers that the five-count charge of alleged cybercrime had not been properly served.
The DSS, which initiated the suit, accuses Sowore of posting a false and offensive statement about President Bola Tinubu on his verified X handle. The agency had earlier issued him a one-week ultimatum to delete the post, which it described as “malicious and inciting.”
Sowore, however, has countered with two fundamental rights suits against the DSS and the social media companies, insisting the matter is a fight for free speech in Nigeria.
