Armed bandits have attacked the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, located in the Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing the Vice-Principal and abducting several female students.
The attackers, who stormed the school late Sunday night, reportedly shot the school principal during the raid. The Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, was confirmed dead after sustaining fatal gunshot wounds.
Residents said the gunmen invaded the school community in large numbers, causing panic as staff and students fled for safety. An unspecified number of female students were taken away by the assailants, though authorities have not yet released an official figure.
Security agencies have since been deployed to the area, and search-and-rescue operations are underway. State officials are expected to issue further updates as more details emerge.
The attack adds to a series of assaults on educational institutions in northern Nigeria, where bandit groups have increasingly targeted schools for mass abductions.
