The Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (PSUBEB) has ordered the immediate closure of all public junior and senior secondary schools across the state due to the recent surge in insecurity affecting several communities.
According to the directive issued by PSUBEB management, the shutdown is a preventive and protective measure aimed at averting any possible attack on schoolchildren or staff. The board noted that the decision became necessary after reviewing intelligence reports and observing the rising cases of violent incidents in some parts of the state.
PSUBEB stressed that the safety of learners remains its top priority, adding that reopening will only be considered when security agencies confirm that the environment is safe again.
Schools have been instructed to suspend all academic activities until further notice, while parents and guardians have been urged to ensure their children remain home and safe during this period.
