Boko Haram insurgents have launched another attack in Adamawa State, abducting an 18-year-old boy in Kopre village, Hong Local Government Area.
The teenager, identified as Azura Ayuba, was taken on Thursday afternoon while fetching firewood with his friend Augustine. Reports indicate that about 20 heavily armed fighters stormed the area, overpowering the boys. Augustine narrowly escaped and alerted villagers, but Ayuba was seized and whisked away.
A counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the incident and disclosed that troops of Operation Hadin Kai in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have already begun tracking the kidnappers in a rescue mission.
Residents say the attack has heightened fear across Kopre and nearby communities, forcing many to stay away from farms and bushes. Local leaders have called on government and security agencies to strengthen surveillance and provide better protection for rural dwellers.
The Adamawa State government condemned the abduction and assured that efforts are ongoing to secure the boy’s release.
This latest incident adds to a series of Boko Haram incursions in the North-East, raising renewed concerns about the safety of vulnerable communities in Adamawa.
