Armed bandits stormed a mosque in Yandoto community, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing five worshippers and abducting 20 others during early-morning prayers.
The gunmen struck around 5:30 a.m., locking the mosque doors before opening fire. Several people were also injured and are currently receiving treatment in Gusau.
Residents said the abducted victims were taken to a nearby bandit camp, while the community remains gripped by fear.
Efforts to reach the state police command for confirmation proved unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The assault comes just days after another dawn raid in Gidan Turbe, where about 40 worshippers were kidnapped in a similar attack.
