Bandits launched a late-night attack on Zalau community in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Sunday, killing a community volunteer identified as Alhaji Muhammad Bakoshi and abducting his wife, who reportedly gave birth two weeks ago.
Security analyst Bakastine confirmed the incident in a post on his X handle, noting that the attack further underscores the worsening security situation in the area.
Bakoshi, who served as the Discipline Officer of the JIBWIS Zalau branch, was said to have been targeted at his residence during the raid. The attackers allegedly whisked away his wife, leaving residents in shock and fear.
Local sources say security agencies have been alerted, though no official statement had been issued at the time of filing this report.
The incident adds to growing concerns over rising bandit attacks across northern Nigeria, with communities repeatedly calling for stronger intervention and improved security presence.
