The 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the arrest and reported treatment of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of posing as the Director-General of a purported government agency, is part of what he described as an official cover-up rather than a genuine effort to establish the truth.
In a statement shared on social media, Sowore argued that President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be investigated if authorities are committed to conducting a thorough and impartial inquiry into the allegations surrounding the case.
Sowore further claimed that an individual allegedly linked to the collection of a ₦400 million payment on behalf of the Chief of Staff had died under what he described as mysterious circumstances. He also alleged that the hotel where the purported transaction took place had since been demolished, raising concerns about the preservation of potential evidence.
The activist accused the Federal Government of obstructing justice and alleged that efforts were being made to shield those he believes should be investigated. He concluded his remarks by reiterating his “#RevolutionNow” campaign slogan.
