
A 300-level Computer Science student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has reportedly died by suicide following the loss of ₦600,000 through betting activities.
The student, identified as Kelvin Danlami, was found dead under circumstances that have shocked the university community in Niger State. Sources familiar with the incident said the loss, allegedly incurred through sports betting, may have contributed to emotional distress prior to his death.
University authorities and security agencies are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but investigations are said to be ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
The incident has renewed concerns about the growing influence of betting among young people and the mental health pressures faced by students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria
