The United Kingdom’s Deputy Chief of Defence Staff for Military Strategy and Operations has visited Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of efforts to strengthen defence and security cooperation between the UK and Nigeria.
The visit, hosted by the Headquarters of Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, brought together senior military officials from both countries to discuss counterterrorism operations and emerging security challenges in the region.
During the engagement, the UK delegation reiterated its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s armed forces through enhanced training programmes, intelligence cooperation, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at boosting operational effectiveness in the North-East.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai commended the UK for its sustained support, describing the partnership as vital to improving military professionalism and reinforcing joint efforts to combat insurgency.
The discussions also highlighted the enduring defence ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, particularly in the areas of counterterrorism, military training, and the promotion of regional stability.
