Tinubu Vanguard Withdraws Support for President, Suspends Political Activities

A pro-Tinubu political group, Tinubu Vanguard, comprising members from 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has announced the suspension of all its political activities and the withdrawal of its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The decision was disclosed by the group’s Director-General, Hon. Kamilu Abdullahi Abubakar Maiganji, during a meeting with members and journalists convened to review the relationship between the organisation and the APC-led government.

Maiganji said the move followed what the group described as prolonged neglect, lack of engagement, and failure by the government to recognise the role played by Tinubu Vanguard during the 2023 election campaign.

According to him, despite the group’s contributions to the electoral victory of President Tinubu, its members have continued to endure severe economic hardship without any form of support or acknowledgement from the government.

Daily Trust reported on Monday that the group’s leadership expressed disappointment over what it termed the government’s indifference to the welfare of its loyal supporters, a situation that ultimately led to the decision to withdraw political backing.
