Speaker Abbas Swears in Three New House Members Following August Bye-Elections

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, officially swore in three new members on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following their victories in the August 16, 2025, bye-elections. The newly inaugurated lawmakers are:

Omosede Igbinedion (Ovia South/Ovia West/Ovia North-East Federal Constituency, Edo State)

Joseph Bagudu (Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State)

Muhammad Sani (Guma/Tarka Federal Constituency, Benue State)

These elections were necessitated by the vacancies created through the resignation or death of previous officeholders. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the bye-elections to fill these positions.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, with the Speaker administering the oath of office and allegiance to the new members. The event was attended by family members, political associates, and other dignitaries.

With the addition of these three members, the House of Representatives continues its legislative duties, representing the interests of their respective constituencies in the federal legislature.
