The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has endorsed the nominations of Reno Omokri, former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, and several others for ambassadorial appointments, moving them one step closer to confirmation.
The screening, reported by Sahara Reporters, came amid public debate and criticism surrounding some of the nominees. Despite the controversy, the committee ruled that all cleared candidates met the required criteria to represent Nigeria in various foreign missions.
The report adds that the committee will now forward its recommendations to the full Senate for consideration and final approval. Authorities have not responded to concerns raised over some of the nominations.
