Ukrainian authorities say more than 600,000 people were left without electricity after Russia launched a wave of overnight strikes across the country.
According to the Ministry of Energy, over 500,000 of those affected are residents of Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital. Officials said the attacks targeted several power generation facilities in the city and other regions.
Local reports indicate that around 36 missiles and nearly 600 drones were used in the assault, which hit multiple parts of the country. At least three people were reported killed, while dozens sustained injuries.
Russia has intensified its bombardment of civilian infrastructure and energy sites in recent weeks, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts by the United States and other allies to de-escalate the conflict.
Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed the strikes targeted weapons production centers and energy installations across Ukraine.
