Dozens of migrants made a fresh attempt to cross the English Channel from Gravelines beach in northern France early Wednesday morning.
According to eyewitness accounts, a group comprising men, women, and children arrived at the shoreline under the cover of darkness, managing to evade French police patrols. However, their journey was cut short when their inflatable dinghy began to deflate before departure, leaving them stranded on the wet sand in life vests.
Nearby, a second group of around 30 migrants raced through the dunes and successfully launched a small boat toward the United Kingdom.
French police vehicles were seen patrolling the coastal area throughout the night in a bid to prevent further illegal crossings. The English Channel continues to be a major route for migrants seeking to reach Britain, despite dangerous conditions and increased security measures on both sides.
