The Ogun State Police Command has announced the killing of two suspected kidnappers during a security operation targeting a criminal gang allegedly involved in kidnapping activities across the state.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operation also resulted in the recovery of a black bag reportedly used to deliver ransom payments to the gang.
Police further disclosed that Mohammed Bello, identified as a suspected member of the kidnapping syndicate, was arrested during the operation. Authorities also detained Mohammed Abdullahi, the father of one of the suspects and the Seriki of the Fulani community in Ogun State, as investigations continue.
The command said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state. Police authorities added that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network of the criminal group and bring other accomplices to justice.
