Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully repelled coordinated overnight attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents across several locations in Borno and Yobe states.
According to the Defence Headquarters, militants launched simultaneous assaults on military bases in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko between midnight and 4 a.m. on Thursday.
In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, media officer for the joint task force, said the troops “fought gallantly and professionally,” inflicting “heavy and decisive losses” on the terrorists, with over 50 insurgents reportedly killed.
The statement emphasized that the military remains committed to securing the northeast and neutralizing threats from Boko Haram and ISWAP. Security analysts say the successful repulsion of the attacks demonstrates improved operational readiness and coordination among the Nigerian armed forces.
Authorities continue to monitor the region for any further insurgent activity and have urged civilians to remain vigilant while security operations are ongoing.
