The Israeli military has announced the discovery of the body of an Israeli citizen who was killed during Hamas’ October 7 attack on the country.
The body of Ilan Weiss was taken into Gaza after he was killed while trying to defend a kibbutz.
Israeli forces said they have designated Gaza City as a battlefield as they intensify operations to capture key population centers in the territory.
The army added that humanitarian aid restrictions had been temporarily eased in Gaza City, though residents reported little change on the ground.
Israel also confirmed it had recovered the body of another citizen killed in Hamas’ October 7 assault. Weiss was killed while attempting to defend his kibbutz community.
