An aide to the Deputy Governor of Niger State has been stabbed to death in an attack that occurred at his residence located directly opposite a police station, according to reports.
The victim was said to have been attacked by unidentified assailants under circumstances that are still unclear. The incident has since triggered concern among residents and raised fresh questions about security despite the proximity of the victim’s home to a security formation.
Sources said the attackers allegedly invaded the residence and fatally stabbed the aide before fleeing the scene. Efforts by neighbours and security personnel to rescue him were reportedly unsuccessful, as he was confirmed dead shortly after the attack.
The identity of the attackers and the motive behind the killing have not yet been officially disclosed.
Security operatives are said to have launched an investigation into the incident, while authorities are expected to provide further details as inquiries continue.
