Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, has said his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) was taken in the best interest of Plateau State and not for personal gain.
The governor made this known while briefing political appointees and key stakeholders at the Government House in Jos. He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally invited him to join the ruling party, adding that the decision followed months of wide consultations and deep personal reflection.
According to Mutfwang, the move was motivated by a desire to advance the development and stability of Plateau State, noting that the president has demonstrated genuine concern and commitment to addressing the state’s challenges.
He stressed that his defection should not be seen as self-serving, but rather as a gesture of respect and cooperation aimed at positioning Plateau State to benefit more effectively from the federal government’s support.
