Former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, 65, is facing allegations of living an extravagant lifestyle in the United Kingdom, including ownership of multimillion-pound properties, use of chauffeur-driven cars, private jet travel and possession of large sums of cash.
Prosecutors told Southwark Crown Court that Alison-Madueke allegedly spent about £4.6 million refurbishing properties located in London and Buckinghamshire. The court heard that the expenditure formed part of the benefits she is accused of enjoying unlawfully.
Diezani Alison-Madueke has denied all the allegations. Proceedings in the case are ongoing as the trial continues.
