Tension has gripped families of 17 passengers kidnapped along the Calabar–Oron waterways after suspected sea pirates hijacked a commercial boat on Thursday.The vessel, operated by Sea Express Limited, was carrying more than 30 passengers when the armed men struck.
Police confirmed that the attackers whisked away 17 victims to an unknown destination, leaving the rest behind.Relatives say they have been unable to reach their loved ones, as the abducted passengers’ phones remain switched off.
A police spokesperson said efforts are underway to secure their release.
