Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has accused the federal government of offering “celebrity treatment” to terrorists and bandits during peace negotiations while leaving ordinary Nigerians unprotected.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, titled “Beyond State Police: The Urgent Case for Citizens’ Right to Bear Arms,” Dalung said the country’s centralized security structure had collapsed, exposing citizens to attacks from terrorists, bandits, and violent criminals who wield sophisticated weapons.
He argued that rather than empowering citizens to defend themselves, authorities have been holding talks that elevate criminals while neglecting victims of violence.
Dalung maintained that only by granting Nigerians the right to bear arms could communities effectively resist growing insecurity across the country.
