Abuja-Based Singer Ifunanya ‘Nanyah’ Dies at 25 After Snakebite, Reports Cite Anti-Venom Shortage

A 25-year-old Nigerian singer, Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, has died following a snakebite incident at her residence in Abuja.

Reports indicate that the singer was bitten by a snake inside her home and was rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. However, she allegedly could not receive the required anti-venom due to its unavailability in the medical facilities she was taken to.

Nanyah, who was emerging in Nigeria’s music scene, reportedly remained conscious long enough to seek medical help before her condition worsened. She was later pronounced dead, sparking widespread reactions online.

Her death has triggered renewed public concern over emergency healthcare preparedness in the nation’s capital, particularly the reported shortage of life-saving anti-venom in hospitals.

Tributes have continued to pour in from fans and colleagues, mourning the loss of a young talent whose career was still on the rise.
