President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, and the Executive Director of News, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, reversing earlier appointments that had replaced them.
The directive, issued on Tuesday, was announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Dembos, who was appointed NTA Director-General in October 2023, will now return to complete his three-year tenure, while Adewuyi, who assumed office in 2024, will also continue in his position until 2027.
The President’s decision nullifies the recent appointments made into the positions of Director-General, Executive Director of News, Executive Director of Marketing, and Managing Director of NTA Enterprises.
According to Onanuga, the reversal was taken to ensure continuity and respect the validity of ongoing tenures within the public broadcasting institution.
