A high-speed passenger train derailed and slammed into another train in Spain on Sunday evening, killing at least 39 people and injuring dozens more in one of the country’s deadliest rail disasters in more than ten years.
Emergency services rushed to the scene as rescue teams worked through the wreckage to assist survivors and recover victims. Authorities said several of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, some in critical condition.
