President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as Chairman of the National Steering Committee of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP).
The appointment, announced on Thursday, is part of the federal government’s efforts to strengthen grassroots governance and promote inclusive development across Nigeria’s 8,809 political wards.
According to a statement released by the Presidency, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, will serve as Vice-Chairman of the committee.
Other members include six state governors representing each geopolitical zone , Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Dikko Umar Radda (Katsina), and Hyacinth Alia (Benue).
The Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme is designed to drive social and economic development at the grassroots level, focusing on community-based infrastructure, job creation, and local empowerment initiatives.
The committee held its inaugural meeting earlier this week at the NGF Secretariat in Abuja, where Governor AbdulRazaq pledged the governors’ collective commitment to the success of the initiative.
President Tinubu’s administration has described the programme as a key component of its “Renewed Hope” agenda, aimed at improving the quality of life in rural communities and fostering sustainable development across the federation.
