The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has heightened security operations across Abuja following growing public concerns over safety and potential threats in parts of the city.
In a statement on Monday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, directed an increase in patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-gathering activities within the territory. The move, he said, is aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining peace and order across the capital.
According to the police, tactical teams and operational units have been strategically deployed to key locations, including markets, worship centres, motor parks, and recreational areas.
The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation.
While assuring the public of the police’s readiness to protect lives and property, CP Igweh reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and community collaboration in tackling insecurity in the FCT.
Security analysts and residents have welcomed the development, describing it as timely given the current national security challenges.
