Some angry youths in Kano State have reportedly set ablaze the office of the chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area during a protest against the rising wave of bandit attacks in the area.
According to reports, the protesters took to the streets to express frustration over persistent insecurity and repeated attacks by armed bandits affecting communities within the local government.
The demonstration later turned violent as the youths allegedly stormed the local government secretariat and set parts of the chairman’s office on fire.
Residents said the protest was triggered by growing anger over the worsening security situation and calls for authorities to take stronger action against criminal activities in the region.
Security operatives were said to have been deployed to restore calm, while authorities are yet to release an official statement on the extent of damage caused by the incident.
