A fuel tanker carrying petrol overturned and caught fire on Sunday at Iyana-Isolo, inward Oshodi, Lagos.
The flames spread to four parked trucks, but officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) moved in quickly to stop the disaster from spreading.
Traffic was diverted from Ilasa to Oshodi while the area was sealed off.
Preliminary checks showed the tanker driver was speeding before he lost control.
According to LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, operatives from nearby zones, the Fire and Rescue Service, the Police, and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps all joined forces to contain the fire.
No lives were lost.
Bakare-Oki said the swift response saved lives and property, stressing LASTMA’s commitment to keeping Lagos roads safe and orderly.
