The move follows concerns raised by lawmakers over poor service delivery, operational lapses, and safety challenges within the nation’s railway system.
During plenary, senators highlighted complaints from passengers and stakeholders regarding frequent disruptions and security threats along key routes. In response, the Senate mandated a committee to examine the management, funding, and security framework of railway operations, with a view to identifying the root causes of the problems and proposing corrective measures.
The probe is expected to strengthen oversight and improve the safety and efficiency of rail transportation nationwide.
