Five additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the audacious £76 million jewellery heist at Paris’s Louvre Museum earlier this month, the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed on Wednesday.
According to prosecutor Laure Beccuau, the arrests were made late Wednesday in Paris and the surrounding Île-de-France region. Despite the latest developments, the stolen Crown Jewels remain missing.
The new arrests follow the detention of two men last Saturday, both with prior criminal records, who were taken into custody on suspicion of stealing the priceless jewels.
During a press briefing, Beccuau said the pair face preliminary charges of theft by an organised gang and criminal conspiracy. One of the suspects, a 39-year-old French-Algerian man, was apprehended at his home in Aubervilliers, a suburb north of Paris.
Police continue to investigate the heist, which took place on October 19, 2025, at the world-renowned Louvre Museum. Officers remain focused on tracking down the missing jewels, described as “irreplaceable pieces of cultural heritage.”
Authorities have yet to reveal details of how the thieves breached security at one of the most heavily guarded museums in the world.
