President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its security and economic challenges, stating that the country possesses the leadership and experience needed to tackle terrorism and poverty.
Speaking at an event, Akpabio lamented the growing impact of drug abuse among young people, citing instances where substance addiction has allegedly driven some individuals to commit violent acts against their own family members.
He noted that the abuse of substances such as tramadol and other illicit drugs has become a major concern, describing the trend as one of the social issues contributing to insecurity and instability in parts of the country.
Despite these challenges, the Senate President maintained that Nigeria has the capacity to defeat terrorism and restore stability. He praised the contributions and example of experienced national leaders, saying their efforts have laid a foundation for addressing the country’s security threats.
Akpabio further expressed confidence that the nation would not only overcome terrorism but also make significant progress in reducing poverty and improving the living conditions of its citizens.
According to him, with collective commitment and strong leadership, Nigeria can reclaim its position as a respected and influential member of the global community.
He stressed that the fight against insecurity and economic hardship requires unity, resilience, and sustained support for policies aimed at national development and social stability.
