Burkina Faso has officially adopted a free visa system for citizens of African countries.
The policy was approved on Thursday during a Council of Ministers meeting presided over by the country’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Authorities said the decision is intended to promote the free movement of people and goods within the West African nation.
With the move, Burkina Faso joins a growing list of African states offering visa-free access to fellow Africans.
The Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, confirmed that under the new arrangement, travelers from African countries will no longer be required to pay visa fees upon entry.
