The Ondo State Government has withheld the WASSCE results and school testimonials of 17 graduating students over their involvement in a viral sign-out video deemed to depict acts of indiscipline.
The affected students, from Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas Secondary School, and CAC Grammar School in Akure, were identified in footage showing disorderly post-examination celebrations, including the tearing of school uniforms and the chanting of inappropriate slogans.
Following an emergency meeting with school authorities, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology directed that the students’ names be entered into their schools’ disciplinary “black book,” while their examination results and testimonials remain withheld pending further action.
The government also ordered the expulsion of all non-final-year students identified in the video and issued queries to the principals and senior officials of the affected schools over alleged lapses in supervision.
Commissioner for Education, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, said the state would not tolerate conduct capable of undermining discipline and the integrity of the education system, stressing that parents and the affected students have been summoned to receive official sanction letters and further directives.
