Residents of Rewienku Village in the Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State have accused suspected Fulani militias of destroying more than eight hectares of farmland during an attack carried out on Tuesday, May 27, 2026.
According to community sources, large portions of cultivated farmland and crops were reportedly mowed down during the incident, leaving affected farmers devastated and raising fresh concerns over insecurity and recurring violence in the area.
Locals described the destruction as a direct attack on the community’s means of survival, alleging that beyond killings and violent attacks, armed groups have increasingly targeted agricultural activities and sources of livelihood.
Community members also expressed frustration over what they described as the continued absence of arrests and prosecution of those responsible for repeated attacks and unrest in the region.
The incident adds to the growing security concerns in parts of Plateau State, where clashes and attacks have continued to affect rural communities and farming activities.
